Color Me Good

How to color your hair like a professional
WITHOUT the professional price tag $$$

I love to color my hair, but I don't love forking over the big bucks to have somebody else do it for me. I also don't like the gamble you take by using boxed hair color kits! Seriously your gonna tell me my hair's gonna turn out JUST like the model on the box??? RIGHTTTT!!!

What I DO love......Sally Beauty Supply!!! The people that work there are super helpful, the products are awesome and really so, so cheap!!!

Try it one time and you'll never buy a boxed hair color again!!! (seriously there is no telling how long that stuff has sat on a shelf either in the store or in the warehouse)

What you'll need.....(well your color choice may be diff ha ha)
(talk to the professionals at Sally to find out your NEEDS)
this is a list of my favorites that I now buy every 6-8 weeks
All for around $10

*ION Color Brilliance Cream 4A-4.1 (med ash brown)
*ION 10 Volume Developer (for heavy greys you might need 20 vol)
*UNRED Color Additive (tones down the brassy's)
*Gloves
*Mixing Bowel (cleaned out sour cream container ha ha ha)
*Color Brush
*Vasoline (to apply around hairline)
*Baby Wipes (to clean up messy's)
It is best to dye your hair a day or two after you shampooed last, the hairs natural oils will help the color distribute evenly....also apply hair coloring to dry hair.

step 1...with hair pulled back apply a good coat of vasoline around hairline around forehead and on ears...it repeals the haircolor from your skin...don't get in your hair tho or it won't color either.

step 2...squeeze entire tube of creme into plastic bowel
pour equal amount of developer in
squeeze in unred packet
use color brush to mix together until your get a creamy whipped
frosting texture

3rd...start applying hair color all around your hairline

4th...next part hair down the middle with the pointy end of brush

5th...brush coloring on both sides down the part on your roots only about 2-3 inches depending on new growth amount

6th...continue making parts and applying to roots all along your head
(starting with the roots to insure even coloring throughout...the older hair on your ends soaks up the coloring faster then the fresh roots)

7th...Once you get finished with all of your roots then paint color onto the length of your strands

8th...work hair color through hair with your gloved fingertips, making sure there are no spots missed.

9th...Now the Waiting ha ha. Leave hair hanging loose while color developes (piling on top of head can cause blotchy spots) oh yeah wear a shirt you don't mind ruining (i use the same old shirt everytime).....my wait time is 30 mins, just follow directions on whichever kind you buy

10th...while you wait ***clean up using baby-wipes (seriously they are great for cleaning EVERYTHING)
***pluck your eye-brows
***paint your nails
***frost some cup-cakes (ha ha ha)

11th....time to rinse, jump in the shower and rinse till water runs clear, shampoo and condition as usual, blow-dry hair there you go!
BRILLIANT, BEAUTIFUL COLOR

much love & more to come

Makin' the Cut II.......with a twist :)

T-Shirt cutting!

How to make a wide-neck, one sleeved, really cute shirt!!!

If you can't tell by now I just can't stand to leave a t-shirt a well, boring old t-shirt ha ha ha

Call me crazy ~ Call me chop happy ~ Scissor lover ha ha ha.....guilty!

What you need....

*t-shirt
*sharp scissors
(because all of my t-shirts have gone thru my alterations hee hee, I found this cool one at my favorite thrift store for $2 oh yeaaa)

1st...start by laying shirt out flat

2nd...cut in a slight U shape about an inch from neck line (just the front)

3rd...now cut the back of the shirt straight across just under the neck line
4th...after you get done widening the neck line take both shoulder seams and stretch and pull giving the neck line that cool rolled look.

5th...(this is the fun part ha ha) cut off the sleeve on one side...whichever side your choice...for a cleaner edge cut off the seam

6th...now make a cut thru what is left of the shoulder seam

7th...next tie the two ends together into a double knot (this is knot hard ha ha ha sorry couldn't resist)

Now you have a awesome "new" shirt with a little more pizzaz!!!

Hope ya like it.....

much love & more to come,
Jenny :)

Messy Beachy Waves

How to get that messy beach hair look.

Super fast ~ Super easy

Things you'll need....

1...Hair Spray

2...A big barrel curling iron

3...Finishing Cream.....or for super hold any kind of hair wax product

4...hair & your hands ha ha

Remember this look is not about perfect "Shirley Temple" ringlets....it's about messy, frolicked on the beach all day surfer girl hair!!

First on either air-dried or blow-dried hair spray hairspray allover to add volume and to get hair ready to hold curls....if you need extra volume for limp hair simply add some baby powder to your roots with your fingertips...
2nd...clip back half of your hair for easier access to bottom section...
3rd...ha ha ha get your trusty iron nice and hot
4th...holding curling iron up-right (and don't use the clip) wrap small and big sections around barrel(just alternating between sizes)....the trick is to start curling iron about 3 to 4 inches down from root and don't worry too much about getting the tip all the way to the end either (remember messy ha ha)
work around your head changing from small sections to big section....wrapping some forward around curling iron barrel and some going backward around barrel. once you finish bottom section then let hair loose and finish top section.
5th...once you get finished with all "curls" rub either finishing cream (i love frizz-ease) or hair wax between hands and apply to each curls kind of twisting as you go...

6th...once you are finished "finishing" each curl with product then kinda loosten and separate curls by fluffing up with your hands

YEP i've been at the beach ALLLL day ha ha ha
(with this hair style I like to twist my bangs to the side and hold back with bobby pins for that cool hippy girl effect)

much love & more to come,
Jenny :)

Get Your Glow On

Achieving that radient glow
without even breaking a sweat :)

"my what gorgeous glowing skin you have"

my FAVORITE make-up item ever!!!!!!
it's so cheap your gonna wanna buy 5 (seriously if you ever find 5 snatch them all up ha ha ha this stuff sells out quick)

what is this WONDERFULISHIOUS stuff???

Blend & Glow
by
BONNEBELL

(available at wal-mart, target, walgreens, and on-line...google it)
for under $4!!!!!!! (insert chimes and bells)

yep, I said it......BONNENELL!!!! not your kid sisters play make-up after all!!!

I love how it gives the perfect sun-kissed glow withour being too super sparkly (don't get me wrong ha ha i love sparkles)
I'm telling you this stuff rocks!!! I have tried many, many, many other shimmer blush/highlighters and NOTHING comes even close!! I love this stuff!!!

I use a big, soft blush brush and swirl brush into all colors for the perfect blend and contrary to what you may have heard before don't smile while applying, you actually make a kissy-face and apply in a C shape starting under your cheek bone and ending at your temples.
please, please don't do the whole apple of your cheek pink thing, unless of corse your a clown and then by all means ha ha ha

I like to brush just the slightest dab onto the tip of my nose giving it that little button nose effect.

ha ha if you look close you can see that my brush left behind a few "friends".....so yeah pick those little guys off before leaving the house.

"where'd ya get THOSE cheek bones"

helping you glimmer and glow like the shining star you know you are!!! :)
much love & more to come,
Jenny

Faking Flawless

Perfect foundation
Cheap make-up finds :)

Maybelline's new FIT make-up foundation and concealer ROCKS!!!!!
It's even got spf 18!!! (gotta fight those wrinkles baby)
This light, sheer foundation evens out your complexion without that greasy, caked-on feeling that SO many foundations (yes even expensive ones) can leave you with!
Best part is........it's under $7 Niiice :)

Tips for a "perfect" complexion

1st...always start by using a good moisterizer with an spf of at least 15.

2nd...smooth on foundation with a sponge or your fingertips all-over your face, taking care to blend, blend, blend along the hair and jaw line.

Tip...ALWAYS use concealer on top of foundation, otherwise you will wipe off the concealer and then what's the point ha ha

3rd... dab on concealer
and pat, pat, pat with your fingertip (you arn't trying to rub make-up in here, the trick is to have the make-up sitting on top of skin to hide imperfections)

Concentrate on area around nostrals where women tend to get red, under eye cirles, blimishes, and any area's of discoloration (eeee my upper lip ha ha)

Under eye circle trick.....rest chin on chest and look up into the mirror as you are applying and tap, tap, tapping..doing it this way really makes the circles show up (not pretty ha ha ha but trust me it looks better in the end)

4th...dust on a loose powder with a big, soft brush. Blending lightly in a circular motion....if you use a puff then pat powder on don't wipe across face ruining foundation and concealer application.
5th...after applying powder i very, very gently roll a q-tip under the eye to remove any excess make-up caked into the creases (nothing with age you more than make-up showing in your creases eeeek)

Now your face is "flawless" and gorgeous and ready to apply your eyes, lips, and radient glow

next up........cheap trick radient glow :)

much love & more to come,
Jenny
